After 3 years of discovering and signing him, Tekno has finally left Ubi Franklin’s label, MMMG. He is the second artiste to leave after Iyanya left few weeks ago to join Don Jazzy’s Mavins.
Tekno broke the news via a video he posted on his official instagram account. In the video, he stated that he has started his own music label(yet to be named) and thanked Upfront and Personal Boss Paul Okoye(not Psquare’s Paul) for buying 50% shares of his new label.
Ubi Franklin confirmed Tekno’s departure and wished him well.
Speaking with Planet TV, Ubi, said that if Tekno, who recently snagged three awards at the just concluded Soundcity MVP Awards, decides on leaving his label once his contract expires, he can.
In Ubi’s words:
Am sure when his contract expires, if he wants to go, I don’t have a problem with that. I am not trying to hold back on any artiste. My dream coming to the entertainment industry is to create, build, release to the world, and say, this is what we’ve done.
It seems a string of badluck has befallen Ubi Franklin, who in a space of two months, has lost 2 highly rated artists, and battling to save his marriage to estranged wife, actress Lilian Esoro.
